The South Shore Physician Hospital Organization, Inc. (SSPHO) was formed in 1994 by local physicians and the South Shore Hospital. The focus of the SSPHO is to preserve and protect the value and quality of health care for the people who live and work on the South Shore. In 1994 when the SSPHO was founded, managed care plans, or HMOs, were eager to contract with provider networks like the SSPHO for their patients because we have a wide breadth of services and a large number of quality physicians.
The SSPHO offers a complete set of inpatient, outpatient, and physician services for the people who live and work on the South Shore. We accept every major insurance company and we cover a large area. Our doctors cover 30 specialties and South Shore Hospital is the largest and most comprehensive facility on the South Shore. We can handle everything from the common cold to complex brain surgery and almost everything in between. When needed, we also work with some of the best Boston tertiary hospitals and physicians to ensure that your patients, under your direction, get the right services.
